Grassland and scrub improvement

To some, grasslands and scrub areas may not look like much, however, they are exceptionally valuable habitats for a diverse range of animal and plant species. To maintain this biodiversity we have a special management plan which involves varying the frequency and height of mowing, encouraging the numerous different grasses and shrubs. These provide a rich source of food for insects, pollinators and rodents (especially when the native wildflowers are in bloom), which, in turn, attracts birds and larger animals, creating a vital link in the food chain.
